Interview with Asma

How old are you and where do you come from?
I'm 33, born and raised in Spånga, (K-Line!), Sweden.

Tell us about your graffiti background, when did you start,
what was the scene like, why did you get interested?
I got interested in Graffiti around 87-88 but didn't do my first piece until 89-90.
I sat home and sketched a lot and practice my design from looking at photos and books.
I have a strong memory of a window-down whole car parked at Spånga Station, I forgot
who did it.

Later me and Don Ruba (today mostly known as DJ) went to Spånga Industrial complex to
check out the famous pieces of Circle, Weird, Card and Pure. That was something else!
Me and DJ went to school together. Other writers went there as well such as Trade, Jenus
and Reco(Curies).


We started up the crew GOS( Gold Of Stockholm ) and LBC ( Lover Boys Crew ) Ha! Ha! Ha!
Shit, I didn't give a flying about the broads, the only one that got some were Curies!
Trade got into the Hardrock scene, writing songs and Jenus moved to Nacka.
But shortly after I met Ches ( King Carlos ) and started painting with him, he was REAL good and if he would've stuck with it, he'd be one of the best today. Along with Ches I also met Each who also lived in Bromsten. He was a few years younger than us but could paint like
the best of them.

I believe it was Each who brought us along to the Graffiti School in Kungsängen where
I met Dyre. At this point we started to party and paint a lot. I painted some with T-Bag
and Debon also, probably around 1994.

First time I met Pomac, who wrote Son at the time was a late night at the train lines.
Me, T-Bag and Debon were going to turn a wall into a piece but Pomac beat us to it.
So when Pomac were finished he took some photos of it and went home while we
stood by waiting to steal his Crome. That was pretty mean!

But since we lived along the same line we started to paint together.
Dyre and Pomac came from Jacobsberg while me and Each came from Spånga.
Together we formed the crew VOC!


A lot of people joined up with our crew over the years
and the crew KCN K-LINE CONNECTION was formed by Dyre and Each.

You're at the top of popular graffiti writers in Sweden today,
do you think that you've influenced the style of today for new writers?
I really have no idea.
I'm completely blind to that, some say they've got inspired by me but I can't see it.

How much time to you put down on a sketch before you paint it up on the wall?
I've started to lay down my sketches depending on how the wall looks like,
if it's a high or low wall and stuff like that. When I get down to draw it up it usually takes about 10-15 variations of the sketch, some more complex than others. It's good to have a bunch of sketches to
choose from when you're going out there. Finding the right color theme takes about an hour.

What's your focus when finishing a piece?
Attitude and contrast, teeth and eyes! Ha! Ha! Ha!


What crews and writers are you down with?
I'm in TD KCN VOC KRI GFD NSV WS. But the ones I represent the most is TD, KCN!

What other writers has been the most influent for your own development?
Iano, Aman, Circle, Ikaros, Dyre, Each, Sken, Skill, Kaos and a lot of music.


Tell us about the most crazy story happened to you while you were out there?
Sometimes cops and security makes us run I guess. But I'm so fast they'll never catch me.


One time me, Kaos and Aman were out painting when we spotted a cluster coming for us
so we took off. Kaos throw his bag with paint over a tall wooden fence and it landed on all
sorts of gardening tools so the noise was crazy.
He jumped over and landed on barrels, rakes and all kinds of shit, slipping and
sliding around like Charlie Chaplin with all that racket going on. I just laughed!
I turn around and saw Aman run faster than lighting from the yard and I could harly
run myself because I couldn't stop laughing. Well, we got away at the end so all's good.

I don't know what it is but I always laugh like crazy when someone run or fall down.
Ha! Ha! Ha!

Ever got caught?
Once when i was a raging drunk! ... don't drink n paint!

Any final words?
Short story. I was out fishing with Pomac one summer night. Pomac got back to me for that time he fell in the yard as we ran from the cops. He told me to catch some lure while he watched my rod in case I got a bite.
Of course one of my lure dived in, Pomac yelled for me to come reel in the fish but I didn't hear him.
So he catched a nice 1Kilogram Perch on My rod!

Today I mostly paint with Skill and Pomac, whom I also fish a lot with. Others I like to hang with are Ikaros, Kaos, Polar, Cake and Dyre.
